Child's play is sometimes dangerous. Pauper Haria's son Raja and Maharaja Surendra Dev's son Narendra Dav were of the same age and looked alike.

As luck would have it, both of them met and soon became friends. Exchanging each other's experience they started playing the game of prince and pauper.

The prince put on the tattered clothes of Raja and Raja put on the princely attire. Prince told Raja that he had never stepped out of palace so he asked Raja to stay in the palace pretending to be a prince while he would go out and see the world.

Once he went out in the garb of Raja then he could not return to the palace. The palace guards mistook him for a thief and threw him out.

Haria, mistaking the prince to be his son took him home. But as he persisted in calling himself prince, both Maria and Raja's mother came to the conclusion that he had become mad.

In the palace, Raja denied that he was a prince. But nobody believed him. Maharaja Surendra Dev and other officials thought he was mad and called upon the doctor to cure him.

Shanta, Raja's mother, underwent lot of penance to cure the prince (whom she mistook as her son) of his madness. And while the mother's affection held the prince captive in the hut, Raja was held captive in the bondage of Maharaja Surendra Dev's love.

After the death of Maharaja Surendra Dev, Raja was imprisoned by the selfish commander Vikram. How did the prince reach his palace and Raja met his mother is unravelled in a thrilling climax on the screen.
